UPDATE: Elite League, Nike Bauer Announce Launch of 2008 Girl's Elite League

After six successful seasons of boys elite development, the Upper Midwest High School Elite League recently announced that it will begin operation of a Girls Elite League, commencing in the fall of 2008. The expansion of the Elite League to include a girls division is part of a new five-year agreement between the Upper Midwest High School Elite League and Nike Bauer Hockey. Nike Bauer will provide equipment for all players and will sponsor an NIT Tournament for both boys and girls under the new agreement.

UPDATE: Elite League Founder Honored by American Hockey Coaches Association

Upper Midwest High School Elite League founder and commissioner John Russo was recently named the recipient of the John "Snooks" Kelley Founders Award by the American Hockey Coaches Association. Named after the famed Boston College coach, the award honors those people in the coaching profession who have contributed to the overall growth and development of the sport of ice hockey in the United States. Past recipients include John Mariucci, Lou Lamoriello, Jeff Sauer, Lou Vairo and Mike Sertich.

Midwest Xposure Elite Tournament


The High School Elite Hockey Development Program and the Upper Midwest High School Hockey Elite League operates from September through mid-November and is intended primarily as a high-level supplement to the High School season. The league features five teams from Minnesota, one North Dakota/Minnesota combo team and Wisconsin's top prep team. Shattuck's top team and Thunder Bay also participate in some of the league's action.
