Regular season champion APX (10-6-2) earned the top seed in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League playoffs and will open with an 8 p.m. quarterfinal game against No. 8 seed Team North Dakota (1-2-0) on Friday, October 24 at New Hope Ice Arena.

All four quarterfinal games are set for Friday with No. 2 seed The Base (10-7-1) playing No. 7 seed Team Wisconsin (4-12-2) at 6 p.m., No. 3 seed MSP Magazine (8-6-4) playing No. 6 seed Twin Cities Orthopedics (5-12-1) at 8:30 p.m. and No. 4 seed TDS Transportation (8-8-2) playing No. 5 seed Spade Hockey (5-9-4) at 5:30 p.m.

All playoff games are held at New Hope Ice Arena’s North and South rinks and streamed live on MNHockey.TV. The semifinals and consolation semifinals are set for Saturday and all four championship round games will be held on Sunday. The championship game is set for noon on Sunday at the North rink.

Team APX led the league with 97 goals and a plus-20 goal differential. Two of the league’s top three scorers play for APX, including Gavin McNeil of Rosemount, who leads the league in overall scoring (30) and overall assists (23), and Sam Wooten of Eastview who is tied for second in overall scoring (23) and tied for the lead in total goals scored (13).

MSP Magazine allowed just 67 goals in the regular season which was the fewest in the entire league. The Base finished just behind APX in total goals scored with 94 and in goal differential with a plus-13 and is on a current league-high win streak of three games.

The Elite League playoff champion will receive The Founder’s Cup in recognition of John Russo, who was instrumental in getting the league up and running in 2002. Russo passed away in 2023.

MSP Magazine won last year's championship with a 4-2 victory over Twin Cities Orthopedics.
