The Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League gear is getting a slick new look for the 2012 season.
The new designs, put together by Gemini, take advantage of a model developed by European teams to increase league sponsorship.
"We've been discussing (this) for a few years because in order for us to generate more substantial sponsorship revenue we need to develop inventory that was going to be attractive to corporate Minnesota," said Elite League Marketing Specialist Robert Fallen.
The Elite League is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that focuses on providing high-level competition to high school hockey players in the Midwest.
Six of the Elite League's regional teams this year will have corporate sponsors featured on their gear. Bauer – a league sponsor – will also be featured on the apparel.
The team sponsorships are as follows:
Team Great Plains: Luther Automotive
Team North: Muscle Milk
Team Northeast: Mpls.St. Paul Magazine
Team Northwest: Velocity Hockey Center
Team Southeast: TCF Bank
Team Southwest: Starkey
